School Counseling

What types of programs are offered?

     Our middle school counseling program is designed to focus on improving school climate and increasing academic performance. School wide programs focus on academic guidance, bullying prevention and kindness promotion, cultural awareness, respect, drug prevention, and college awareness. Grade level programs focus on career awareness, organization, study skills, goal setting, and time management. Programs include:

  • Bully-Free Week
  • Red Ribbon Week
  • College Knowledge Week
  • Career Fair
  • Lunch Bunch groups with the Counselor
  • Odyssey of the Mind
  • Youth Advisory Committee
  • Cultural Awareness Day
  • KUDER career program

How does a student see the counselor?

  • Self- referral
  • Request of the counselor
  • Parent referral
  • Administrative/Teacher referral
  • Referred by friend(s)

     Students may see the counselor for individual or small group counseling to assist with a variety of concerns and problems including:

  • Friendship
  • Problem solving
  • Academic improvement
  • Divorce
  • Grief and loss
  • Crisis Intervention
