Associated Student Body

ASB hosted the second ACE party of the year in November.  We had an I-Hop theme and provided a huge array of breakfast foods, including Belgium waffles.  It was a feast!  Left over food was sent to the Women’s Shelter.  Students are eligible to buy ACE party tickets by earning an ACE card based on classroom conduct/citizenship.  Our next ACE party is scheduled for February 14th.

December was a very busy month at Murray.  We held the Winter Dance on December 7th.  The theme was Northern Lights.  We tried a new DJ that the students really enjoyed. Many teachers and students felt that it was the best dance in recent memory.

The highlight of December was almost certainly our Variety Show.  On December 21st, Murray’s student body was treated to live Murray talent.  Many of our talented (and brave) students performed everything from dance to skits to piano solos.  Mrs. Trudy stepped in to fill extra time in the 2nd performance, singing “Santa Baby”.  The response from the student body and staff has been overwhelming.  ASB is planning another assembly in the spring to showcase more of the many talents we have here!  We want to send out a huge thank you to our awesome audience, and most of all, to the student participants who made the show an awesome and memorable event!

We’ll have a pep rally at the beginning of February to cheer for Murray’s basketball games as they continue their season.  This will be the official introduction of our players and other spirited fun.

On February 8th, Murray will hold its 3rd dance of the year, the Valentine Dance.  Dress for this dance is casual.  Everyday school-type clothes are absolutely acceptable.  The dance will begin at 5 P.M. and run to 8 P.M.  The first hour will be a carnival, hence the need to start during daylight hours. The most formal dance at Murray is the semi-formal Touch of Class Dance in April.

Our yearlong spirit competition continues with spirit days, class competitions, ACE card counts, etc.  At last count, the 8th graders are in the lead.  A pizza pool party tops the prize list for the winning grade.
