Mrs. Angela Hulstrom & Mrs. Rose Douglas, School Counselors Promotion Ceremony Letters… were sent out February 6th. All 8th grade students should have received this letter with his/her promotional status enclosed, along with promotion ceremony information. These letters required a parent signature and needed to be returned to the front office. Final Promotion Letters/Conferences… Eighth grade students and parents will be notified in mid-May if one of the following applies:
Registration for Burroughs… Parents who wish additional information on Burroughs classes, college entrance requirements, and the registration process may participate in one of our parent meetings scheduled for Monday, March 17, from 11:00-11:45 or 11:50-12:35 (feel free to bring your lunch). This meeting will be conducted by one of our BHS counselors. 8th grade students will be receiving their registration information for electives on either March 13th or March 14th. The registration sheets need to be returned by March 19th, to the student’s Science teacher. Teachers make recommendations for Math, English, and Science. Summer School… Students who have failed math, English, history, or science will be recommended for summer school. Applications will be available the beginning of May. Watch for more details for the registration process and for dates and times of summer school. Registration for 6th and 7th Graders for next year… our current 7th and 6th graders will complete the selection process for their elective for next year in April. Students will have the choice of an elective wheel or vocal or instrumental music. Math placement tests will be given in early May to determine placement for next year’s math classes. Students transferring to Murray… please encourage your friends who wish to transfer their students to Murray to 1) complete an open enrollment form between May 1 and May 15, if they do not live in our Murray district, and/or 2) to complete the registration process for any student not attending the SSUSD schools, but wishing to attend Murray in the fall. Moving from Ridgecrest??? Call Janice if you will be leaving the area over the summer. Due to the possibility that schools in other areas may begin before we open in August, you may want to have a copy of your student’s immunizations and final grade card to take to the new school. If your student qualifies for honors math or Algebra A or Algebra CP, please ask for a recommendation to take to the new school. It is NEVER too late… to encourage your student to do their very best at school. Continue to check the planner, assist with organization, and support the homework process. Where did this year go??? What an awesome year this has been! It is amazing how quickly it has flown by. Should you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, please feel free to give me a call at 446-5525.
