Tips for Virtual Learning

Choose a Good Place to Learn

Set up a dedicated work area for your student to learn. Try to choose a place free from distractions. Make sure your student has all of their supplies for the day in their work station.

Establish Routines and Expectations

Establish night and morning routines with your student, so they are ready to join their class on time. Choose when to wake up and go to sleep and stick with it. Also, try to start the day with an energizing breakfast.

Stay in Touch

If your student is having trouble with their internet connection, submitting their assignments on Canvas, or general issues with Zoom, please let the school know. You can contact the front office, their teacher, a school counselor, or a school administrator for assistance. Remember, you are not alone!

Encourage Non-Screen Activities

Use lunch breaks and after school time to encourage outside time or unstructured play away from screens. Some ideas include taking a walk, drawing with chalk outdoors, or family time sitting outside.

Attitude is Everything

This is new and different for everyone, including the teacher. Please remember that your student will follow your lead as we navigate through this. Be their best advocate!

Give Yourself a Break

Things are hard right now and it is okay to feel that way. Thank you for helping guide your student through distance learning. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!
